Why KMeaning exists
You hear a word in a K-drama, a song, or a fan chat. A translation app gives you one flat English word, and you still don't know who says it, to whom, or how it feels. KMeaning fills that gap.
Who makes it
KMeaning is made by a native Korean speaker who teaches Korean conversation to international learners in small live classes, and who also coaches English. Living between the two languages every day means hearing the same questions again and again: Can I say oppa? Is daebak rude? Why do Koreans say “fighting”? This site is where those answers live.
How every entry is written
- A direct answer first, then the details: what the word really means and when to use it.
- Natural, everyday Korean examples, the kind people actually say, with English translations.
- Romanization that follows the official Revised Romanization of Korean, plus the spelling fans use.
- Honest notes on politeness: who you can say it to, and when it would sound rude or strange.
- Facts about K-pop releases and dramas are checked against official announcements and news reports.
New words every day
New entries are added every morning, from everyday basics to the slang, titles and fandom terms you meet in Korean pop culture. Start with a word you just heard, or browse by topic.
